Maggie's Mini Therapy Horses is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 corporation.
My name is Lora Melin and I am the founder. I had been looking for a way to combine my love of horses and my passion for helping children with chronic illness and the idea for Maggie's Mini Therapy Horses arrived. Maggie (my daughter) was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 and she and I have shared our love of horses for the last 12 years. I have personally seen how much interacting with horses has helped Maggie and I would like to share this with anyone that can benefit. Animal assisted therapy is proven to improve mental, physical and emotional well being.
My goal as founder is to partner with organizations that help people who have chronic illness, special needs or other disabilities. In addition we will have programs for schools; hospitals; hospice; local police & fire departments and other organizations that may benefit from animal assisted therapy.
We will customize our program using proven animal assisted therapy techniques to meet your needs. We will bring our minis to your facility with trained handlers and volunteers to help during the visit. Our highly trained minis are for petting and loving only, they cannot be ridden. We operate by donation so all donations big or small will be welcomed!
